Pacific Shearwater

The Pacific Shearwater, also known as the Wedge-tailed Shearwater, is a medium-sized seabird that belongs to the petrel family. It has a dark grey-brown plumage, a white underbelly, and a distinctive wedge-shaped tail. These birds are highly adapted for life at sea, with long, slender wings that enable them to glide effortlessly over the ocean surface. Pacific Shearwaters are skilled fliers and are known for their long migrations across the Pacific Ocean. They are also excellent divers and feed primarily on fish and squid. These birds are colonial nesters, often breeding in burrows on remote islands. They are known for their haunting calls that echo across the ocean at night.
