Pacific Swift

Apus pacificus

The Pacific Swift is a migratory bird found in the eastern regions of Asia. This species is known for its remarkable aerial abilities, spending most of its life in flight. With a streamlined body and long, curved wings, the Pacific Swift is perfectly adapted for sustained flight. These birds feed on flying insects, catching them on the wing with their wide gape. They breed in colonies on cliffs and buildings, constructing cup-shaped nests out of feathers and plant material. During migration, they can cover vast distances, often traveling in flocks. The Pacific Swift is a remarkable example of avian adaptation to an aerial lifestyle.
