Paddyfield Pipit

Anthus rufulus

The Paddyfield Pipit (Anthus rufulus) is a small passerine bird found in open grasslands, agricultural fields, and wetlands across South and Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive streaked brown plumage, long hind claw, and habit of running on the ground while foraging for insects and seeds. This species is often observed perched on fence posts or wires, singing its melodious, high-pitched song. Paddyfield Pipits are adaptable and can be found in a variety of human-altered landscapes, including rice paddies and urban parks. While their populations are generally stable, they may face threats from habitat loss and pesticide use in agricultural areas.
