Pale-breasted Spinetail, Synallaxis albescens, is a bird of Middle and South America, ranging from Costa Rica to Argentina. It belongs to the Furnariidae and is a passerine. It is found in open grassy country, including savanna, cerrado, campo rupestre, shrub-steppe, brushy woodland edges, pastures, marshes, roadsides and secondary forest margins. It usually occurs below 1,500 m, though in Central America it is recorded below 1,250 m and in Colombia up to 1,800 m. It is slightly smaller than most Synallaxis and has a shorter bill. The sexes look alike.
