Pale-breasted Thrush, Turdus leucomelas, is a thrush of northern and south-central South America, breeding across much of the continent and absent only from Chile and Ecuador. First described by Vieillot in 1818, it belongs to the family Turdidae. It is a largely sedentary bird that occupies open and semi-open country, including forest edges, woodland, secondary growth, savanna, gallery forest, palm groves, plantations, parks, gardens and yards. Its nest is a bulky cup of moss, rootlets and mud, and it often uses buildings as nesting sites.
