Atlapetes pallidiceps (Sharpe, 1900)

Pale-headed Brushfinch Atlapetes pallidiceps is a passerine of the New World sparrow family, found in the inter-Andean valleys of Azuay in south-central Ecuador. It is tied to the Jubones River drainage and is confined to a very small area in the Yunguilla Valley. The bird was thought to have vanished before being found again in 1998, after its last earlier record in 1969. It lives in sparsely covered landslide breaks and abandoned fields, usually near streams with stands of Chusquea bamboo.
