Pale-vented Pigeon

Patagioenas cayennensis

The Pale-vented Pigeon (Patagioenas cayennensis) is a medium-sized pigeon found in Central and South America. It has a distinctive pale gray head, neck, and chest, with a contrasting white belly and undertail coverts. The back and wings are a rich, iridescent green, and the tail is dark with a broad white band. These pigeons are often found in lowland forests, forest edges, and clearings, where they feed on fruits and seeds. They are known for their low, rhythmic cooing calls. The Pale-vented Pigeon is generally not considered threatened and is widely distributed throughout its range.
