Pallas's Reed Bunting

Emberiza pallasi (Cabanis, 1851)

Pallas's Reed Bunting, Emberiza pallasi, breeds across the Palearctic from the low Arctic into northern temperate parts of central and eastern Asia, with tundra and tussock grass in its breeding areas. Its range runs from Yamalia in north European Russia to southern Chukotka in north-east Russia, then south to the Sea of Okhotsk and northern Kamchatka, with further pockets in far north-east Kazakhstan, the Altay, western Amurland, northern Mongolia and Inner Mongolia. Outside the breeding season it moves to temperate fields in eastern Asia, reaching southern Ussuriland, the Korean Peninsula, central China and eastern China.
