Pallid Swift

Apus pallidus

The Pallid Swift (Apus pallidus) is a migratory bird species belonging to the Apodidae family. It is known for its streamlined body and long, scythe-shaped wings that enable it to perform impressive aerial acrobatics. This species is predominantly found in open habitats, such as deserts, cliffs, and urban areas, where it feeds on flying insects. The Pallid Swift is characterized by its pale plumage and distinctive forked tail. During the breeding season, it nests in colonies on cliffs or in buildings, often in close proximity to human settlements. Its migratory behavior takes it to sub-Saharan Africa during the winter months.
