Dulus dominicus (Linnaeus, 1766)

Palmchat, Dulus dominicus, breeds on Hispaniola in North America. It is the only member of the family Dulidae and the genus Dulus. This passerine is closely tied to palms, using them for feeding, roosting and nesting. It is found across Haiti and the Dominican Republic, with records also from Saona and Gonâve Islands. The bird is common and widespread in suitable places, especially open savanna with royal palms, but it also uses other open or partly open habitats, as well as farmland, parks and gardens where its food trees grow.
