Palmer's Rail

Zapornia palmeri

Palmer's Rail (Zapornia palmeri) is a small, elusive bird species found in the marshes and wetlands of the Galápagos Islands. This rail is characterized by its secretive nature and cryptic plumage, which provides excellent camouflage in its dense, reed-filled habitat. The Palmer's Rail is primarily active during the early morning and late evening, foraging for invertebrates and small vertebrates in the marshy areas. Due to its limited range and specific habitat requirements, the Palmer's Rail is vulnerable to habitat loss and degradation.
