Panama Flycatcher

Myiarchus panamensis

The Panama Flycatcher (Myiarchus panamensis) is a medium-sized songbird found in the forests and woodlands of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive call and aerial foraging behavior. This species primarily feeds on insects, catching them in mid-air or by gleaning from foliage. The Panama Flycatcher builds cup-shaped nests in tree cavities or on branches, where it lays its eggs and raises its young. Its olive-green upperparts and yellowish underparts make it well-camouflaged in its forest habitat. Despite its widespread distribution, the Panama Flycatcher faces threats from habitat loss and deforestation.
