Papuan Boobook, Ninox theomacha, is an owl of New Guinea, where it occurs in lowland, submontane and montane forest. It is most often found along forest edges. The bird has a dark grey-brown facial disc with paler brows, sooty to chocolate underparts, and wings that are mainly dark grey. Described by Bonaparte in 1855, it belongs to the family Strigidae in the order Strigiformes.
