Papuan Frogmouth, Podargus papuensis, lives in New Guinea and its satellites, the Aru Islands, and Cape York Peninsula in north-eastern Queensland, Australia. It belongs to the frogmouth family and was first named by Quoy and Gaimard. In breeding areas it uses moist lowland forest in the tropics and subtropics. Among frogmouths it is the longest, and it is also larger than the tawny frogmouth. It has a bulbous bill, red eyes, a cream eyebrow, a long tail and dark wings, with the male slightly larger and darker and the female more rufous.
