Paradoxical Antbird

Eugralla paradoxa

The Paradoxical Antbird (Eugralla paradoxa) is a small passerine bird found in the Amazon rainforest of South America. It is known for its distinctive behavior of following army ant swarms to feed on insects and small invertebrates flushed out by the ants. This species has a unique relationship with the ants, as it relies on them for its foraging activities. The Paradoxical Antbird has a cryptic plumage that helps it blend into the dense undergrowth of the forest. It is often heard before it is seen, emitting a variety of vocalizations including whistles and trills.
