Peach-fronted Parakeet

Eupsittula aurea (Gmelin, JF, 1788)

Peach-fronted Parakeet, Eupsittula aurea, is a parakeet of South America, breeding from Amazonia south to southern Bolivia, Paraguay and northern Argentina. It belongs to the Psittacidae family and was first described by Gmelin in 1788. The species is found across a broad stretch of the continent, including Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname and Argentina. Its name comes from the peach-coloured front and forecrown, with a dull blue hindcrown, bare yellow skin around the eye, and dull green upperparts and tail. Young birds resemble adults but show less orange and blue on the head.
