Pearl-breasted Swallow
Hirundo dimidiata
The Pearl-breasted Swallow (Hirundo dimidiata) is a small passerine bird found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is characterized by its distinctive pearl-like breast feathers and long, pointed wings. These agile birds are often seen darting through the air, catching insects on the wing. They build cup-shaped nests from mud and plant material, often under overhangs or in human-made structures. The Pearl-breasted Swallow is a migratory species, spending the breeding season in southern Africa and migrating north to equatorial Africa during the non-breeding season.
