Pearly Parakeet, Pyrrhura lepida, is a parrot of north-central Brazil, breeding in the country’s north-east and in areas south of the Amazon. It lives in humid terra firme forest, along forest edges, in secondary growth, and sometimes in clearings beside woodland. The species was described by Wagler in 1832. It is the valid name for this bird after earlier confusion with a different scientific name. Three subspecies are recognised, including forms from Pará and Maranhão, with one also recorded in Mato Grosso.
