Cisticolidae — Cisticolas & Allies

Pectoral-patch Cisticola, Cisticola brunnescens, is a bird of central, eastern and southern Africa in the cisticola family. It occurs in the Adamawa Massif, Gabon, the Congo and the highlands of East Africa, where it uses damp or wet places in upland grassland. In the breeding season its pectoral patches darken, though they can still be hard to pick out. It is a small, streak-backed cisticola with a short or medium tail that may lengthen during breeding, and its crown and forehead are pale rufous rather than buff at that time.
