Penan Bulbul, Alophoixus ruficrissus, is a bulbul of montane Borneo in the Oriental Region. It occurs in broad-leaved evergreen forest and rainforest, where it is usually found in the mid-storey, and it has been recorded up to 1500 metres. Three subspecies are recognised. A. r. fowleri occurs in montane Borneo apart from Sabah, A. r. meratusensis is found in the mountains of south-eastern Borneo in Kalimantan, and A. r. ruficrissus is present in the mountains of north-eastern Borneo in Sabah.
