Perija Tapaculo

Scytalopus perijanus

The Perija Tapaculo (Scytalopus perijanus) is a small, elusive bird species found in the cloud forests of the Perijá Mountains in Colombia and Venezuela. This species is known for its distinctive vocalizations and secretive behavior, often foraging on the forest floor for insects and small invertebrates. The Perija Tapaculo has a mottled brown plumage that provides excellent camouflage in its dense forest habitat. Due to its restricted range and habitat loss, this species is considered vulnerable to extinction.
