Peruvian Recurvebill

Herpsilochmus gentryi

The Peruvian Recurvebill (Herpsilochmus gentryi) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the cloud forests of the Andes in Peru. It has a distinctive recurved bill, olive-brown upperparts, and a buffy-white belly. This species is known for its secretive behavior, often foraging in dense undergrowth and staying hidden from view. Its song is a series of high-pitched, rapid notes. The Peruvian Recurvebill is primarily found in montane forests and is often associated with bamboo thickets and dense vegetation. Due to its limited range and habitat loss, this species is considered vulnerable to extinction.
