Peruvian Sheartail, Thaumastura cora, is a hummingbird of north-west Peru to north Chile in South America, with its breeding range also extending through western Peru. It is the only species in its genus. This bird is one of the smallest hummingbirds, and the male is notable for its tail, with a pair of very long central feathers and several shorter outer ones. Both sexes have a short black bill and metallic green upperparts, while the male also shows an iridescent magenta throat patch.
