Peruvian Treehunter, Thripadectes scrutator, is a bird of the ovenbird family, Furnariidae, breeding in northern Peru and north-central Bolivia. It was described by Taczanowski in 1874. It lives on the eastern Andean slopes, from cloudforest into elfin forest, and is especially associated with thick stands of Chusquea bamboo. It is a resident throughout its range. The species is a robust furnariid with a heavy bill, and the sexes look alike. Its plumage is blackish, buff, chestnut, brown and rufous, with a black bill and grey to brown legs and feet.
