Philippine Coucal Centropus viridis is a cuckoo of the Philippines, breeding across most of the archipelago except the Palawan group and the Sulu Archipelago. It belongs to the family Cuculidae and was described by Scopoli in 1786. Medium in size, it has similar-looking sexes, and the different races vary in plumage and size. Some forms are all black, while others show black with chestnut wings. It lives in tall grassland, secondary forest and thickets, and occurs up to 2,000 metres above sea level.
