Pithecophaga jefferyi
The Philippine Eagle, also known as the Monkey-eating Eagle, is a critically endangered bird of prey native to the Philippines. It is one of the largest and most powerful eagles in the world, with a distinctive shaggy crest and striking blue eyes. These majestic birds inhabit tropical rainforests and are skilled hunters, preying on a variety of animals including monkeys, snakes, and flying lemurs. Due to habitat loss, hunting, and other human activities, the Philippine Eagle population has drastically declined, leading to its critically endangered status. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this iconic species and its remaining habitat.
