Philippine Pygmy Woodpecker, Yungipicus maculatus, is a woodpecker of the Philippines, where it breeds across most of the archipelago apart from Palawan and the Sulu Archipelago. It belongs to the family Picidae and was described by Scopoli in 1786. It is the country’s smallest woodpecker, and it is widespread enough to occur even in towns and cities. It uses primary and secondary forest, plantations, forest edges and open areas with scattered trees, and has been recorded up to 2,500 metres above sea level.
