Philippine Swamphen, Porphyrio pulverulentus, is a rail of the Philippines, breeding on Luzon, Mindanao and other large islands, but not across most of West Visayas or the Palawan group. It lives in wetlands with thick reedbeds and in vegetation along lakes, ponds and rivers. It is set apart from related swamphens by its olive-brown mantle and scapulars, with the head and body washed in ash-grey. It was once treated as part of the purple swamphen group, but later separated.
