Picui Ground Dove, Columbina picui, is a bird of South America, breeding from north-eastern Brazil to central Chile and southern Argentina. It belongs to the pigeon and dove family and was described by Temminck in 1813. It is a ground-dwelling dove of arid country, including forest edges, savanna with scattered trees, mesquite scrub, suburbs, gardens and cultivated land. The nominate form is widespread across much of the range, while C. p. strepitans is confined to parts of north-eastern Brazil. It also occurs at higher elevations in north-western Argentina and Bolivia.
