The Pied Bush Chat (Saxicola caprata) is a small passerine bird found in open habitats such as grasslands, scrublands, and agricultural areas across South and Southeast Asia. This species is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with the male sporting a black head and back, white belly, and a prominent white wing patch, while the female has a brownish-grey upperparts and a paler underparts. Pied Bush Chats are insectivorous and often perch on exposed branches or wires to hunt for prey. They are known for their melodious and varied songs, especially during the breeding season. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and agricultural intensification, the Pied Bush Chat's population is considered stable, and it is currently categorized as Least Concern by the IUCN.
