Pied-crested Tit-Tyrant

Anairetes reguloides (d'Orbigny & Lafresnaye, 1837)

Pied-crested Tit-Tyrant, Anairetes reguloides, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family that lives in western Peru and north-west Chile. It is a resident bird of arid coastal country, using scrub, thickets beside watercourses, fog oasis lomas, hedgerows in farmland, and Polylepis woodland above the treeline. Its most striking feature is the split black crest of the male, with white on the crown and nape, black upperparts marked with fine pale streaks, and wings showing two white bars when closed.
