Pied Currawong, Strepera graculina, is a passerine of eastern Australia and Lord Howe Island in the family Artamidae. It was described by Shaw in 1790. A robust, crowlike bird, it is one of the currawongs and is closely allied to the butcherbirds and the Australian magpie. It has black or sooty grey-black plumage, white patches on the undertail and wings, yellow irises and a strong bill. The sexes look alike. It is known for its melodious calls and is generally sedentary, though higher-altitude birds move to lower ground in the cooler months.
