Geokichla wardii (Blyth, 1843)
Pied Thrush, Geokichla wardii, is a thrush of the Himalayas and Sri Lanka, breeding across the Oriental Region from the Himalayas to Sri Lanka. It is a member of the Turdidae and was described by Blyth in 1843. The male is strikingly marked in black and white, while the female and young birds are brown-toned with speckled underparts. It breeds in forested mountain country and is found in winter in Sri Lanka and the hills of southern India. When disturbed, it moves into trees and remains still, which makes it hard to pick out.
