Pin-tailed Parrotfinch

Erythrura prasina

The Pin-tailed Parrotfinch (Erythrura prasina) is a small, colorful finch found in Southeast Asia and nearby islands. It is known for its vibrant plumage, with males displaying bright green upperparts, a red rump, and a distinctive blue tail. Females are generally less colorful. These social birds are often found in small flocks, foraging for seeds, fruits, and insects in grassy areas and open woodlands. They are known for their melodious calls and are popular among aviculturists. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and capture for the pet trade are potential concerns for their populations.
