Pine Flycatcher

Empidonax affinis

The Pine Flycatcher (Empidonax affinis) is a small, insect-eating bird found in pine and pine-oak woodlands of Mexico and Central America. This species is known for its distinctive call and foraging behavior, often seen perching on branches or darting out to catch flying insects. The Pine Flycatcher is olive-green above and yellowish below, with a pale eye ring and wing bars. It is a migratory bird, spending winters in southern Mexico and Central America. Despite its relatively wide distribution, the Pine Flycatcher faces threats from habitat loss and degradation. Conservation efforts are important to ensure the continued survival of this species.
