Pink-billed Parrotfinch

Erythrura kleinschmidti (Finsch, 1878)

Pink-billed Parrotfinch, Erythrura kleinschmidti, is a bird of Fiji, confined to the wetter central and eastern parts of Viti Levu in the Pacific Ocean. It lives in undisturbed mature forest and has also been recorded in secondary forest. The species is usually seen alone, in pairs or in small family groups, and may join mixed-species flocks outside the breeding season. It feeds mainly on insects, but also takes flower buds, berries and fruit, and forages on tree trunks, vines and the ground. Its bill is pale pink and much larger than that of other parrotfinches.
