Pink-footed Shearwater

Ardenna creatopus

The Pink-footed Shearwater is a medium-sized seabird known for its graceful flight and long migrations. With a wingspan of around 91-102 cm, it has a dark grey upper body and white underparts, with pink feet that give it its name. These birds are highly pelagic, spending most of their lives at sea, and are known for their impressive diving abilities to catch fish and squid. They breed in colonies on remote islands, often in burrows or crevices. Unfortunately, they face threats from predation by introduced species and accidental bycatch in fishing gear, leading to a vulnerable conservation status.
