Pink Robin

Eugerygone rubra

The Pink Robin (Eugerygone rubra) is a small passerine bird native to southeastern Australia. It is known for its striking pink plumage on the breast and belly, with a slate-grey back and wings. The male Pink Robin has a bright pink breast, while the female has a paler pink or buff-colored breast. These birds are often found in moist, dense forests, particularly in gullies and along streams. They forage for insects and spiders on the forest floor and in the lower vegetation. The Pink Robin is known for its melodic song, often heard during the breeding season. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to its populations.
