Pink-throated Twinspot

Lagonosticta rufopicta

The Pink-throated Twinspot, scientifically known as Lagonosticta rufopicta, is a small, colorful finch species found in sub-Saharan Africa. This species is known for its striking plumage, with the males displaying vibrant pink throats and crimson red heads, while the females have more subdued colors. Pink-throated Twinspots are often found in open woodlands, savannas, and grasslands, where they forage for seeds and small insects. They are known for their acrobatic courtship displays, where the males perform elaborate dances to attract females. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade pose threats to this species' populations.
