Gallinago stenura
The Pintail Snipe (Gallinago stenura) is a medium-sized wader found in parts of Asia and Europe. It is known for its distinctive long bill, mottled brown plumage, and cryptic behavior, making it well-adapted to its marshland and wetland habitats. This species is primarily crepuscular, being most active during dawn and dusk, and is often observed probing the mud for invertebrates with its sensitive bill. Pintail Snipes are known for their aerial displays during the breeding season, where they produce distinctive 'drumming' sounds by vibrating their outer tail feathers. While the population trend is not well-documented, the species is generally considered to be of Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List.
