Pitcairn Reed Warbler

Acrocephalus vaughani (Sharpe, 1900)

Pitcairn Reed Warbler, Acrocephalus vaughani, is a passerine of the Acrocephalidae family that breeds on Pitcairn in the western Pitcairn group of south-east Polynesia. It is the only land bird on Pitcairn and is endemic to the island. The bird was once widespread across the island and was locally called the sparrow, although true sparrows do not occur there. It is associated with introduced rose apple stands and scrub in gardens, and it does not use Pandanus monocultures, grass fern fields or bare ground.
