Piura Chat-Tyrant

Piura Chat-Tyrant, Ochthoeca piurae, is a passerine in the Tyrannidae family and breeds in north-west Peru. It is a Peruvian endemic, confined to the western Andean slope in the north of the country. Its range runs from south-eastern Piura Department to central Ancash Department, with one record from Lima Department hinting at a wider spread. It lives along the margins of arid and semi-arid montane forest and on scrubby hillsides, at 1,400 to 2,850 m. The sexes look alike, and adults show a dark brown crown, a broad white supercilium and a blackish facial mask.
