Plain Antvireo

Dysithamnus mentalis

The Plain Antvireo is a small, insect-eating bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It has a distinctive olive-green plumage with a grayish head and a white throat. This species is known for its distinctive vocalizations, often heard as it forages for insects in the dense understory. The Plain Antvireo is typically found in mixed-species flocks and is known for its agile movements as it searches for prey. It plays an important role in the ecosystem by controlling insect populations. However, deforestation and habitat loss pose significant threats to its population.
