Plain Antvireo, Dysithamnus mentalis, is a passerine antbird found from se Mexico through Middle America and on into South America as far as ne Argentina. It was first described by Temminck in 1823. Its range is broad but broken, reaching Mexico, much of Central America, Trinidad and Tobago, and most mainland South American countries, though not Chile, French Guiana, Suriname or Uruguay. The species belongs to the family Thamnophilidae. It is placed in the genus Dysithamnus and is known from many named subspecies across its range.
