Plain-bellied Emerald, Chrysuronia leucogaster, is a hummingbird of northeastern and eastern South America, recorded in Brazil, the Guianas and Venezuela. It is a member of the family Trochilidae and was first described in 1788 by Gmelin. The species is split into two recognised subspecies with separate coastal ranges. It lives in semi-open to open country, including mangroves, forest edges, secondary growth, cerrado, caatinga, and human-made places such as plantations, parks and gardens. It is usually found close to sea level, though in Venezuela it reaches 250 m.
