Plain-breasted Ground Dove

The Plain-breasted Ground Dove (Columbina minuta) is a small, ground-dwelling bird found in open habitats across Central and South America. This species is characterized by its plain plumage, with a pale gray head, brownish-gray upperparts, and a distinctive plain whitish underbelly. It has a short, dark bill and red legs. These doves are often observed foraging on the ground for seeds and small insects. They are known for their swift and direct flight pattern. The Plain-breasted Ground Dove is commonly found in savannas, grasslands, and agricultural areas. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential threats to this species.
