Plain-breasted Hawk, Accipiter ventralis, breeds in South America from Venezuela to western Bolivia. It is a small Accipiter hawk of the Andes and nearby highlands, with a breeding range that also includes the coastal mountains of northern Venezuela and Colombia, plus a separate population in the Tepuis of southern Venezuela. Its status is unsettled, and it is often treated as part of the sharp-shinned hawk complex. Adults show short, broad wings, a medium tail, long yellow legs and a black bill with a yellowish cere.
