Plain-crested Elaenia

Elaenia pelzelni

The Plain-crested Elaenia is a small passerine bird found in South America. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, pale gray underparts, and a distinctive pale eye-ring. This species is often found in open woodlands, forest edges, and shrubby areas. It feeds on insects and occasionally fruits, foraging actively in the mid to upper levels of trees. The Plain-crested Elaenia is known for its melodious and varied song, which it uses to communicate and defend its territory. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its population.
