Caprimulgus inornatus
The Plain Nightjar, scientifically known as Caprimulgus inornatus, is a nocturnal bird found in the open woodlands and grasslands of Africa. With a cryptic plumage that provides excellent camouflage, it is primarily active at dusk and dawn, using its wide gape to catch flying insects. This species is known for its distinctive churring call, which is often heard during the breeding season. The Plain Nightjar is a medium-sized bird with a wingspan of approximately 50-60 cm and a mottled brown and gray plumage. Its conservation status is currently labeled as Least Concern by the IUCN due to its widespread distribution and stable population.
