Brotogeris tirica
The Plain Parakeet, scientifically known as Brotogeris tirica, is a small parrot species native to eastern Brazil. These parakeets are known for their vibrant green plumage and a distinctive yellow patch on their foreheads. They are social birds, often seen in flocks, and are known for their playful and inquisitive nature. Plain Parakeets are primarily found in lowland forests, savannas, and coastal regions, where they feed on fruits, seeds, and flowers. They are important seed dispersers in their ecosystems. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, the population of Plain Parakeets is declining, and they are classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
