Plain Softtail, Thripophaga fusciceps, is a bird of western and central Amazonia in South America, including Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru. It belongs to the ovenbird family, Furnariidae, and was described by Sclater, PL, 1889. It lives in tropical evergreen forest and along rivers, especially in várzea and the boundary with drier country, and also uses deciduous forest. It is most often found at forest edges and in places with thick vine growth, from 50 to 500 m above sea level. The species is resident all year and has three subspecies.
